Desert Island Discs

The People's Desert Island Discs was inspired by a chance encounter with a local refuse/recycling centre employee who said quietly one day: I've stopped telling people what I do, because they instantly switch off and stop bothering to speak to me.

The People's Desert Island Discs is the Show for Ordinary People Living Extraordinary Lives. Here you will find a retired language teacher and classical and jazz radio host sharing her passion for music on her 80th birthday; a marketing officer for a gardening centre offering therapeutic activities and services to people with mental health challenges opening up about her own struggles with mental health. And yes, hopefully, one day soon The Hub will be able to tell the story of the recycling centre worker, in her own voice.
